Data we don't collect
Let's start with what matters most. This site is information-only. We do not collect:
- ID numbers
- Phone numbers or OTPs
- Banking or payment details
- Grant application details or status information
No form on this site asks for any of the above. If you ever see something on this site that asks for these details, do not enter them — it may be a scam or a technical error. Please report it to us through the contact form so we can investigate.
We also do not require you to create an account, log in, or give your name to read our guides.
Analytics
To understand how the site is used, we may use website analytics. Analytics only runs if you accept cookies through the consent banner shown when you first visit the site. If you decline, analytics is not activated.
Analytics tells us general things, such as which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from. It does not tell us who you are. We do not combine analytics data with any personal details, because we do not collect personal details.
You can change your mind at any time: most browsers let you clear cookies and reset consent, which stops further analytics from running until you accept again.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that websites store on your device. In plain English:
- Consent and preference cookies: remember that you saw the cookie banner and what you chose.
- Analytics cookies: only set if you accept them; used to measure page visits.
- Advertising cookies: only set if advertising runs on the site and you accepted cookies; set by the ad provider, not by us.

Your rights
South Africa's data protection law, POPIA (the Protection of Personal Information Act), gives you rights over your personal information, including:
- Access: you can ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: you can ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete personal information we hold.
- Objection: you can object to how we process your information.
Because we do not collect personal data through the site, there is usually nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold personal information about you (for example, if you sent personal details through the contact form by mistake), you can exercise these rights by contacting us through the contact form on our contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect this site and any data it handles, such as keeping software updated and using secure connections (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, so we keep our data practices simple: we do not store personal data beyond consented analytics, which means there is little to lose in the first place.
We do not sell personal data. We do not buy personal data. We do not share analytics data with third parties except the analytics tool itself, and only with your consent.
