Editorial Policy

350StatusCheck is an independent informational website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by SASSA or the South African government.

This page explains how we research, check, and update our content. If you find a mistake, contact us and we will look into it.

Sourcing standards

Official sources come first. When we write about the SRD grant, we start with:

  • The official SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • Official pages on sassa.gov.za.
  • Official SASSA helpline information (0800 601 011).

We summarise facts in our own words and link to the official source so readers can verify them. We do not copy long passages from official pages.

We do not treat social media posts, forwarded messages, or other websites as official. If we mention something that is circulating online but cannot be verified officially, we label it clearly as unverified — and usually we leave it out entirely.

Fact-checking

Before a page is published, we check the following:

  • Claim inventory: every factual claim on the page must come from a verified source or from our own stated policies.
  • No invented specifics: we do not state grant amounts, thresholds, deadlines, payment dates, phone numbers, or procedures that we cannot verify from official sources.
  • Name check: the "R350" in our site name refers to the grant's original amount; we do not claim it as the current amount unless an official source confirms it.
  • Link check: official links must point to genuine .gov.za addresses and working portals.
  • Tone check: pages must be clear, neutral, and free of hype or scare tactics.

If a claim cannot be verified, it is either removed or clearly marked as unverified. A page with unverified claims is not published as fact.

Updates

We review and update pages when any of the following happen:

  • Grant rule changes: SASSA changes eligibility rules, processes, or amounts.
  • Portal changes: the official portal's address or features change.
  • New scam reports: new scam patterns emerge that readers should know about.
  • Quarterly link audits: we re-check that all official links still work, roughly every three months.

When a page is updated, its "last updated" date changes. Minor spelling or wording fixes may not change the date, but any change to facts does.

Corrections

We take corrections seriously. When a reader reports an error, or we discover one ourselves:

1. We check the claim against the official source.

2. If it is wrong, we fix the page promptly.

3. We update the "last updated" date on the page so the fix is visible.

We do not hide corrections. We do not quietly rewrite a page to pretend the error never happened.

Independence

No SASSA office, government body, advertiser, or sponsor influences what we write. Our guides contain no paid placements, and if advertising ever appears on the site it will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial content.

Our content is written by real people working on this project. We do not use fake authors, fake reviews, or fake testimonials. We do not fabricate data, statistics, or quotes. What we cannot verify, we do not state as fact.
