SASSA SRD Payment Dates Explained

Important: This is an independent informational website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by SASSA or the South African government. We never ask for your ID number, cellphone number, or bank details.

The short answer

We could not find an official SASSA payment-date schedule on the official pages we could check. Any website listing exact payment dates for your SRD payment is guessing, and you should not plan around it. What is verified: SASSA sends feedback about your application to the cellphone number you supplied, and the grant is paid to the banking information you gave in your application. This page explains how to check whether you have been paid — without invented dates.

How SASSA sets payment dates

SASSA approves applications month by month. Each month is checked on its own, and your approval for one month does not set the date for the next month.

We could not verify a published calendar, schedule, or rule that fixes when payments land. There is no official page we could access that lists dates for a month. That is why this website will never publish payment dates: we will not invent what we cannot verify.

What we can tell you, honestly, is how the system works around your payment:

  • SASSA gives feedback on your application through the cellphone number you supplied when you applied. Keep that number active and able to receive SMS messages.
  • The grant is paid to the banking information you gave in your application.
  • Before asking "when will I be paid", first confirm the month is actually approved. Use the Application status section on the official SRD portal at https://srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • If a month shows as declined, there is no payment date to wait for. Your route is the appeal process — read our appeal guide.

How to check your payment date

There is no single "payment date page" we could verify on the official portals. Instead, you piece the picture together from three reliable sources:

1. The official portal. Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za and open the Application status section. This is the official status-check route, and it is the first place to confirm whether the month is approved. Only an approved month will ever be paid.

2. SASSA's feedback to your cellphone. SASSA sends updates on your application to the mobile number you supplied. If you changed numbers or lost your SIM, you will miss these messages. You can update your number by calling the toll-free call centre on 0800 601 011.

3. Your bank account. The money goes where your banking information directs it. Check your balance and transaction history for the month in question. If the status is approved and nothing has arrived, allow reasonable time before concluding something is wrong — we cannot verify SASSA's internal payment timing.

If all three tell a conflicting story — the portal says approved but no money arrived — move to the section below on late payments.

If your payment is late

Start with the most likely causes before assuming the worst.

First, confirm the approval. Open the Application status section on the official portal and check the exact month. Sometimes people check the wrong month, or check a month that is still pending. A pending month has not been approved yet, so there is nothing late.

Second, check your banking details. If SASSA holds old or wrong banking information, the payment can fail or go nowhere you can see. We could not verify the official procedure for changing bank details, so do this only through the official portal or by calling 0800 601 011 — never through a third-party site. Read How to Change Your SASSA Banking Details for the safe route.

Third, check your cellphone number. If your number changed and you never updated it, SASSA's feedback messages — including payment notifications — went to a dead number. Call 0800 601 011 to update it.

Fourth, give it reasonable time. We cannot verify how long SASSA takes to pay an approved month. Delays happen.

Fifth, contact SASSA directly. If the month is approved, your details are correct, and a long time has passed, call the toll-free call centre on 0800 601 011 or use the official services portal at https://services.sassa.gov.za/portal/r/sassa/sassa/home (all verified channels are also on our contact page).

Do not do these things while you wait:

  • Do not trust payment dates posted on social media or non-official websites. SRD payments are individual — your neighbour's payment date tells you nothing about yours.
  • Do not pay anyone to "release" or "speed up" your payment. SASSA's services are free, and anyone charging a fee is scamming you. (General safety advice.)
  • Do not share your bank details, OTP, or PIN with anyone who contacts you claiming to be about your payment.

Payment methods

The SRD application collects banking information — the details SASSA uses to pay the grant. The money goes where that information directs it.

We could not verify a list of official payment methods (for example, whether cash payments, vouchers, or specific banks are used) on the official pages we could access. So we will not list methods here. What matters for you is practical: make sure SASSA holds your current, correct banking details, and check the account those details point to when you expect a payment. If you need to change where the money goes, see How to Change Your SASSA Banking Details — and use only the official portal or the call centre.

FAQs

Can I find my payment date on the official portal?

We could not verify a page that shows an exact payment date. The Application status section confirms whether a month is approved. Use SASSA's feedback to your cellphone and your bank account alongside it.

Why does my payment date change from month to month?

We cannot verify the reason from official pages. SASSA checks eligibility month by month, and timing is individual. There is no verified schedule.

I was approved but never paid. What should I do?

Confirm the month on the portal, check your banking details and cellphone number are correct, allow reasonable time, then call 0800 601 011 if it is still missing.

Do other websites know the payment dates?

No. Any site listing exact SRD payment dates is guessing. There is no verified official schedule.

5. If problems persist, contact SASSA on 0800 601 011 or via the official services portal.
